A big ‘Thank you’ to Julie Nichols and Tony Robinson have been working hard all summer on the main border, keeping it tidy and removing unwanted growth.

OSBC was chosen as the venue for the first round proper for the Section 4 Ladies Benevolent Triples Competition. Seven rinks were needed for games between Crediton, North Tawton, Exonia, Topsham, Morchard Bishop, Heavitree, Okehampton and Chagford.

Two teams from Okehampton had already been knocked out in a preliminary round, and two more teams represented OSBC today. Sadly they were both eliminated in close-fought matches in the morning session.

The next round will be played at Okehampton on 3rd August.

Club members smarten up the Clubhouse with a fresh coat of paint.

A hot afternoon for a Devon Ladies’ Interclub match (South Molton v Plympton B and Bovey Tracey v Rock Park — Plympton and Bovey the winners) hosted by Okehampton.

And a Men’s League match taking place on the other two rinks. (Oke v Exonia A).

Ladies Christmas Lunch at the London Inn, Okehampton

Almost 30 of the lady members enjoyed another Christmas lunch at the London Inn.

Followed by the presentation of the Cup for Most Improved Player. This year the award went to Maria Randall.

2024 November

Visit to Charlie Bears in Launceston

There could have been a photo of the inside of the secret cupboard — but then it wouldn’t be a secret anymore!

Because the Clubhouse is currently undergoing its building work, the November winter social was a relaxing visit to Charlie Bears at Launceston instead. This, followed by lunch at Strawberry Fields, made a very pleasant day out.

At last, the sun shone and the skies were blue for the last Friendly of the season against North Tawton on Saturday 14th September.

Playing a 4-rink match of Mixed Triples, we unfortunately lost, 53 to 59.
