Presidents Day

Presidents Day

Sheena & Brian

The Weather threatened to curtail events as our President Brian hosted another annual ‘Presidents Day’ on Saturday.  Luckily the rain held off until we were all back in the clubhouse enjoying a superb meal prepared by Jenny and her band of lady helpers. What would we do without these ladies !

The afternoon began with a spider which was won by Anita whose distinctive red bowl was easy to spot as being the nearest to the jack.  She picked up a bottle of whisky for her efforts.  President Brian announced the teams and the format was explained.  Thanks again to Bob for working out the formula.

The Teams receive instructions

The teams soon got organised and a great afternoon ensued.  At half time there was a welcome break for ice creams.  After each team had played 4 games against different opponents the competition was complete and the serious business of eating got under way.  In the meantime a big thank you to Alice who had been selling draw tickets and raised a total of £101.00  Thanks also to members who donated prizes.

At the end of the meal President Brian spoke welcoming all present including some new members and to thank everyone who had helped to make the day such a success.  The winners were announced and called forward to receive their prizes.  Third place went to Derek Harris, John Marles and Richard Hines (a new member who was playing in his first competitive event).  In second place were the team of Tony Hunt, Viv Kirkland and Arthur Griffiths (another of our new members this year).  The winners on shot difference were the trio of Peter Southcott, Sue Hunt and John Westlake.  Congratulations to them all.
