Presidents Day

Presidents Day 2019

(Incorporating the Ben Pook Cup)

We were blessed with a lovely warm sunny day for the President’s  annual event which this year incorporated the Ben Pook Cup as the bowling competition.  The day was well supported with 24 players taking part and a further 9 non-playing members attending the celebrations.    The green was looking surprisingly well and played as good as some other greens in the area.

Brian welcomed all present and explained the rules of the competition.  4 six-end games were played with players rotating after each game and carrying forward their individual scores which were evaluated by our resident adjudicator Bob to determine this year’s winner.  Congratulations go to Ted Macnamara, one of our newer members,  who was declared the 2019 winner of the Ben Pook Cup.

Midway through the afternoon Ice Creams were available and very welcomed they were too on such a hot day.  After the event a splendid meal was served by Jenny and her kitchen lady helpers Linda, Mavis and Gill who never let us down.  Thankyou girls, your efforts are always most appreciated by Brian and all those members who attend.   Once we had all been well fed Brian made his customary speech thanking all those who had helped to make the afternoon a success and presented gifts to the ladies.  He also presented a pot plant to (in his words) his long suffering wife Sheena who doesn’t get to see much of him during the bowling season.  Roger ended the proceedings by thanking  Brian for his generosity and dedication to the club.
