Shop and raise funds for the Club
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online – from your weekly shop to your annual holiday – you could be raising free donations for Okehampton Simmons Bowling Club with easyfundraising?
We’ve registered Okehampton Simmons Bowling Club with #easyfundraising, which means over 7,000 brands will now donate to us for FREE every time you use #easyfundraising to shop with them.
There are over 8,000 retailers on board ready to make a donation – including eBay, Argos, John Lewis & Partners, ASOS, Booking.com and M&S – and it won’t cost you a penny extra to help us raise funds. All you need to do is:
1. Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/okehampton-simmons-bowling-club/ and join for free. Or scan the QR code.
Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping. (Or click the link that will pop up to remind you.)
3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to Okehampton Simmons Bowling Club at no extra cost to you whatsoever! There are no catches or hidden charges.
These donations will help SO MUCH, so please sign up to support us – it’s completely FREE and doesn’t take long.
Sometimes your predicted donation may not seem very much, but it all adds up. In the few months since we’ve registered, we’ve already raised over £100.
Fancy a good read or a jigsaw?
After being up and running for just a couple of months, the book and jigsaw stall in the clubhouse has raised almost £40. Thanks to everyone who has donated books and puzzles, and to those who have bought them.
Keep checking the shelves — new items are added all the time!
New Club Shirts
Following a vote at the EGM on Friday 14th June, it was decided that the new Club Shirts will be adopted.
The shirts are available now but will not used until the 2025 season.
You have a choice of size, weight (thin or thicker material), and ladies have a choice of neckline (open or buttoned — see photo below). Please contact Viv Newton by phone or WhatsApp, regarding ordering, if you have not already given her your choices.
Who’s Who?
Need to put a name to a face?
Or a face to a name?
A poster featuring the Club Officers is now on display in the Clubhouse.
Change of date for Friendly v Kingsley/Westward Ho!
The Kingsley/Westward Ho! match at HOME is now confirmed as
Sept 7th
Not Sept 1st as in the Fixtures Book.
Important notice to all members
Following advice received from our Safeguarding Officer, we are keeping an ‘In Case Of Emergency’ (ICE) list of contacts in the Clubhouse.
The ICE book is an A-Z address book which can be found next to the green First Aid Kit Bag, which is kept in the kitchen.
You can also add any special information that you feel may be useful. For example, if you carry a nitrate spray or an Epi pen, etc.
You can either enter the details yourself or pass them to Andy Smith.
It is not obligatory, of course, but is seen as ‘safe practice’ and you may find it helpful should you be involved in an accident or other incident.
If you have any questions, please contact Andy.
