County Competitions

Devon is divided into 8 Sections, each Section with a dozen or so clubs from a close geographical area. Okehampton is in Section 4 and comprises of Topsham, St Thomas, Pinces Gardens (Exeter), Okehampton Simmons, North Tawton, Morchard Bishop, Heavitree, Exonia (Exeter), Crediton, Chagford and Belmont (Exeter).

When you put your name/team forward for a County Competition you will be selected at random to play another club in Section 4, either Home or Away. The Competitions are on a knock-out basis.

Minor County competitions are initially played within the county Section. Winners then go on to play against bowlers from the rest of the county to find the overall champions. Major County competitions are initially played in the same way, but successful bowlers can potentially go on to play against bowlers from the rest of the country at Leamington Spa.

Bowls will be checked for correct stamping during the county stages of competitions, but only for a legible date stamp of 1985 or later. It is only when you qualify to play at Royal Leamington Spa that you will be required to have the newer stamp.
